Westerns are on the rise. The success of Yellowstone brought this genre back into vogue, which until recently was considered completely obsolete. Since then, every platform has tried to make their own western to capitalize on this sudden craze.
A few weeks ago, Netflix presented a series of its territory, which is designed to resemble the Australian Yellowstone. But while the future of the program is uncertain (Season 2 has not yet been announced), the platform is revealing its brand new production, this time a perfectly American Western.
Titled The Dawn of America, this mini-series takes us back to the beginnings of the American West. The creator of the program is none other than the screenwriter of the film The Revenant Mark L. The series’ monochromatic atmosphere and snowy landscapes are reminiscent of the aesthetics of Leonardo DiCaprio’s feature film Twilight.

The Dawn of America cast includes Taylor Keech (John Carter), Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Betty Gilpin (GLOW) and Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad). The episodes are directed by Peter Berg, known to the general public for his blockbusters (Blood and Tears, Hancock), but also as the creator of the TV series Friday Night Lights.
The official content of the program is as follows: “This is America in 1857. Order is broken, suffering is everywhere, innocence and peace are losing their battle to hate and fear. Peace is dwindling to a minority, and there are few who possess grace – even fewer who know compassion. .
There is no safe haven in these cruel lands and only one goal is important: survival. The Dawn of America is fiction that explores the violent clash between culture, religion, and community as men and women fight and die to preserve or control the land.
The American Dawn mini-series premieres January 9 exclusively on Netflix.
