The Bear actor joins the Star Wars universe in The Mandalorian & Grogu
Jeremy Allen Whitefamous for his award-winning performance in the series The Bearwas confirmed as the voice of Rotta the Huttson of Jabba the Huttin the long-awaited film The Mandalorian & Grogu. This is the actor’s first major project in a major franchise, marking his debut in the universe Star Wars and consolidating his career as one of Hollywood’s rising stars [Via Variety].
Although plot details are scarce, the casting of White as Rotta suggests that the film will explore the power vacuum left by Jabba’s death in Return of the Jedi (1983). The absence of the iconic crime boss was addressed in the series The Book of Boba Fettwhere Boba Fett took control of Tatooine. Rotta’s introduction could indicate new conflicts in the planet’s underworld, possibly bringing back Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).
Rotta the Hutt has appeared on screen before. In the franchise in the film The Clone Warsit is possible to see the character when he was still very small.

The film will be directed by Jon Favreaucreator of The Mandalorianand will feature a script co-written by Dave Filoni (Ahsoka). In addition to Pedro Pascal returning as Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian, the cast includes Sigourney Weaver in a role still kept secret. The premiere is scheduled for May 2026.
