For several months now, “Game of Thrones” fans have been slowly learning about the world of Westeros 200 years before the events of the first season of “GoT.” Anticipation for this prequel focused on House Targaryen recently increased thanks to the official trailer for the series, which has a release date of August 21, 2022.
The over two and a half minute clip reveals a bit of the succession war for the Iron Throne, later known as the Dance of Dragons, which begins when King Viserys (Paddy Considine) must choose who will be his new heir.
Beyond the presence of the magnificent Targaryen dragons, epic battles and political friction, the trailer has a number of details that you may not have noticed.
#1 The magnificent iron throne with its thousands of swords
In “Game of Thrones” it is known that the Iron Throne no longer shines with all the splendor of its time during the reign of House Targaryen. However, in the “House of the Dragon” trailer the throne appears as it is actually described in the legends: with thousands of swords forged with dragon fire.
The Iron Throne takes up much of the Red Keep’s throne room, and the sword blades also have an effect on whoever sits on it, just as
reveals Viserys’ hand dripping with blood.
#2 Eamond Targaryens
The second son of King Viserys Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower, makes his debut in the world of “House of the Dragon” with a brief sword fight. His presence with the eyepiece indicates that he was already injured during his fight with Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys.
#3 The dagger with which Arya killed the Night King
In “Game of Thrones”, Arya Stark kills the Night King with a steel Valyrian dagger, which, before reaching her hands, passes through different owners, such as the assassin who tries to kill Bran Stark. 200 years before these events, the dagger is held by Alicent Hightower as she threatens Rhaenyra Targaryen.
#4 The Red Keep parade ground
“House of the Dragon” shows the parade ground of the Red Keep where Cersei Lannister requests that the map of Westeros be drawn. From the beginning of this short scene in the trailer, the various Houses are seen with their banners and figures.
#5 Rhaenyra Targaryen Transition
“House of the Dragon” will tell the story of House Targaryen chronologically, so several characters are played by two actors for its young and adult version.
In this sense, the lead role of Rhaenyra Targaryen stands out and her evolution from a young woman insecure about being accepted as a queen to her adult stage determined to be on the Iron Throne.
#6 The relationship between Daemon Targaryen and Caraxes
With just a few seconds, “House of the Dragon” shows a bit of the relationship between the Demon and his dragon. A link where their impulsive and dominant personalities clash and at the same time harmonize.
Their time together also shows the saddle and reins with which the dragon rider moves with the massive creature in the air.
