The feature film Vice-Versa 2, which hit theaters on June 19, was one of the biggest box office hits of the year. In France, an estimated 8.5 million viewers flocked to discover the sequel to the Pixar feature film. Internationally, Vice-Versa 2 was also a success grossing over 1.7 billion, making it the biggest grosser of all time for an animated film.
Just a few months after the release of this second part, the Pixar studio presented their new series called Rêves Productions. This program has the peculiarity of taking on mockumentary (or mockumentary), a genre that is relatively little explored in the world of animation.
Big year for Pixar studios
The story of Rêve productions allows us to explore a new part of the world in reverse. This time, the series invites us to meet in the studio responsible for realizing the dreams of the young hero of the films, Riley. Therefore, the series takes the form of a spin-off, but also a satire of the Hollywood industry.
“We’re excited to offer fans the chance to discover new stories from a different universe.” Pixar Creative Director Pete Docter said in an official press release. “Rêves Productions is full of humor and entertaining moments as it delves deep into one of the beloved elements of the first film: the creation of Riley’s dreams.”
Earlier this year, the animation studio revealed Win or Lose, their first original series. Pixar will present its new feature film Elio, a little boy’s intergalactic adventure, next year. Also in the works are the highly anticipated Toy Story 5 and The Incredibles 3 .
Rêves Productions’ animated series based on the Vice-Versa films premieres this December 11 exclusively on Disney+.
