“No Pain, No Limits” is the tagline of Novocaine, a Dan Burke and Robert Olsen action film in which Jack Quaid (Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan’s son) suffers from sensory neuropathy, a rare condition that renders him insensitive to pain. But a possible condition.
In Novocaine (the name of an anesthetic derived from cocaine), he plays Nate, an ordinary man who transforms his inability to feel pain into strength to find his girlfriend (Amber Midtander), who has been kidnapped by a gang of thugs.
A concept film that promises painful scenes… for the audience, judging by the trailer. Jacob Batalon (Ned, Peter’s friend in the Spider-Man films with Tom Holland), Matt Walsh, Betty Gabriel (Get Out) and Ray Nicholson, son of Jack Nicholson, most recently seen in Smile 2, round out the cast.
A slightly similar role that the actor plays in the TV series The Boys: an ordinary man is drawn into the violent and corrupt world of superheroes after his girlfriend is killed by A-Train (Jesse Asher). Thirsty for justice, he joins The Boys, a group of vigilantes.
Novocaine will hit theaters on March 12, 2025. Jack Quaid will also appear in Drew Hancock’s horror film Companion from January 29.
