“Stranger Things 4” could have even more hours if it weren’t for the pandemic

Season 4 of “Stranger Things” was the biggest ever, but a Netflix boss suggested it could have been even bigger had it not been for the pandemic.

Despite the 13-hour run of “Stranger Things” season four, split into two volumes recently released on Netflix, company boss Ted Sarandos hinted that pandemic-related costs may have shortened the series’ penultimate season. . .

“If you do it all over again and take this [a pandemia] from above, I might as well get some extra episodes, ”Sarandos explained Deadline. “[Stranger Things] He was probably as influenced as any other due to the young cast, the size and scope of the production and the various locations we shot in.

Furthermore, Sarandos confirmed that the decision to split the fourth season of “Stranger Things” into two parts was partly motivated by the expenses caused by the pandemic. Volume 1 of season 4 of “Stranger Things” had seven episodes, while volume 2 consisted of two episodes.

“One of the catalysts for the division of the season was the time it took to produce this show,” continued Sarandos. “Much of this was blocked due to the early closure of production and the extreme attention with the cast of the show at the beginning of Covid.”

The Duffer brothers, creators of the series, have already announced that their plans for the fifth season of “Stranger Things” will be a little smaller. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt Duffer said they won’t have to waste time getting into the final narrative, as the Season 4 finale has already wrapped up the story.

However, they also said the plan is for the show’s final episode to last two and a half hours, as in the case of the season 4 finale. “I’m sure the finale will be a lot longer,” explained Matt. “It will be in the style of [O Senhor dos Anéis:] The return of the king with type eight final.

The fifth season of “Stranger Things” does not yet have a release date.
