According to the study, the rock band most searched for tattoos

A survey promoted by a Swiss study shows fans’ preferences based on information available on Google

The connection between tattoo culture and rock is indisputable. In popular culture, the best-known form of body modification has a strong association with musicians and fans of the style. Therefore, one might imagine that many people pay homage to their idols when they wish to immortalize art on their skin.

Aware of this, the Swiss studio LL Tattoo (via Ultimate classic rock) conducted a study to find out which rock bands are the most sought after when it comes to getting a tattoo. The information used comes from Googlemore specifically the instrument Keyword planner.

Owner of some of the best-selling albums of all time, Pink Floyd came in first place. In total, there are an average of 13 thousand monthly searches with the intention of generating tattoos.

This is not surprising, given that, in addition to the popularity of the English group, there is a veritable gallery of iconic images linked to it. Examples include album covers such as The dark side of the moon (1973) e Animals (1977), characters and figures portrayed in the film The Wall (1982) and also instruments, such as the black Stratocaster guitar by David Gilmour.

Pink Floyd

In second position is the Guns N’ Roses. There are approximately 10,675 average monthly searches for arts and ideas to capture your passion for Axl Rose, Bar and company. THE Rammstein occupies third place, with 10,558 searches.

Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Slash of Guns N' Roses

The rest of the top 10 alternates between heavier names, such as Metallica (4th) e Iron Maiden (9th), and artists with a sound considered more accessible, such as LinkinPark (6th) e Twenty-one pilots (8th). A list as varied as rock is – or should be –.

Metallica

Another interesting aspect is to note that Pink Floyd emerged as the sole representatives of the 60s and especially the 70s. There are three bands founded in the 1980s — Guns N’ Roses, Metallica and Iron Maiden — and the others emerged in the 1990s and 2000s. The “younger” Twenty One Pilots was founded in 2009, but has begun to be successful in the following decade.

In a press release, Dedajmanager of LL Tattoo, said:

“It’s very interesting to see which rock bands inspire the most tattoos around the world. Rock and ink are seemingly inseparable and tattoos are almost obligatory for great rockers. Having tattooed people in our studio with art influenced by some of these artists, some of the results are not surprising, however, there are also some interesting bands included in the top 10, as well as some that surprisingly did not make the list.”
