THE Tiradentes Show maintains its essence as a launching platform for contemporary Brazilian cinema and as a space for innovations and concerns in national cinematography, discussions on public policies in audiovisual. Each edition brings news with new approaches, thematic sessions, reveals new talents, provokes new discussions and presents trends. It plays a prominent role in the construction of a contemporary panorama of Brazilian cinema, reflecting current social, cultural and aesthetic themes. – Raquel Hallakgeneral coordinator of Tiradentes Film Show
What Cinema Is This?
With each edition, the efforts of Show is to map a varied and numerous set of films, practices and ideas, to know and recognize scattered and different works, which in most cases would not be made public otherwise than in a festival space. Based on concerns related to the multiplicity of Brazilian cinemas, the event’s curators adopted the theme “What cinema is this?” for 2025.

There is a numerous and complex production and it is necessary to look at it, not only as an exercise in contemplating beauty, intrigue and singularity, but in an effort to see and discuss these films, which, from an ethical point of view, is to incur responsibility from what you can see. It is not possible to build a new Brazilian audiovisual by ignoring the experiences that already exist, often outside public policies and in many cases separated from the market. – Francis Vogner dos Reiscuratorial coordinator
Tiradentes became a reference for programming a cinema that focuses on the creative process, freedom of expression and the imagination of new worlds. The challenge of the theme “What cinema is this?” One wonders where this production is now. For the curator, the question of the theme encourages us to look at a multiplicity of productions, often unknown or outside the traditional circuit.
