American pay channel Syfy renewed “Resident Alien” for its third season. After three years of many cancellations and rare renewals, the channel reversed course thanks to “Resident Alien” which proved to be a success.
The Attraction is one of the few original series still in production on the channel and has maintained one of the largest ratings of its programming since its launch. The first half of the second season averaged 2.3 million viewers per episode, counting reruns and digital footage after a week of airing, according to Nielsen data. Syfy also says that, adding up all the platforms, the show’s audience grows to nearly 11 million viewers.
The adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics comic of the same name brings actor Alan Tudyk (Mr. Nobody from the “Doom Patrol” series) in the role of the production protagonist.
Created by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy, Writer-Producer), the series follows an alien who crashes into a small Colorado town, where he takes the body of a lonely doctor who has been murdered. All he wants is to be left alone while he awaits a rescue that never comes. But circumstances force him out of his remote hiding place to solve crimes as a coroner and to question whether the human race deserves to be saved or destroyed.
Released since 2012, the comics by writer Peter Hogan and artist Steve Parkhouse have already produced six complete miniseries, including the story’s conclusion.
The first season of the series has already been released in Brazil and is available on the Star + streaming platform.
