Released in theaters in 1971, Rio Lobo was anything but his last film. Howard Hawks (died December 26, 1977). During the Civil War, Captain Pierre Cordona (Jorge Rivero) and his men attack a gold train under the command of Colonel Cord McNally (John Wayne).

A young officer is killed during the operation. McNally, who considered him his own son, vows revenge. Cordona is then captured, but he refuses to denounce his informants. However, when he got out of prison, he changed his mind and agreed to help her…
