VLI sees no impact of the road bridge collapse on Free Port operations

Logistics company VLI said on Monday that its rail business at the Free Port Integrator Terminal (TIPF) should not be affected by the collapse of the road bridge, between the cities of Aguiarnópolis (TO) and Estreito (MA), which occurred on Sunday.

The company specifies that the majority of goods handled at the Porto Franco terminal come from the area of the municipality of Balsas (MA), “almost 300 km from the area where the accident occurred, therefore any deviations in the routes of the trucks will not represent changes of operational importance”.

VLI mainly transports grains in the TIPF which go to the port of Itaqui, in São Luís, for export.

As for the goods coming from Tocantins, which represent a smaller part of what VLI receives at the Free Port, according to the company there are alternative road routes to reach the area of the collapsed bridge.

VLI also specified that, after the collapse of the road bridge located near the railway bridge managed by the company, it carried out a preventive inspection on the structure of the railway line, “no type of impact on the structure was found, which allows the continuity of safe railway circulation”.

The company clarified that it does not transport goods through the Tocantins River waterway in the region.
