60 million viewers: The Lord of the Rings Chinese shows the first images of its sequel

“The greatest Chinese legend will soon be in the cinema!“Creation of the Gods” returns to theaters in 2025, and in anticipation, a few moments of footage from its sequel, Demon Power, have been revealed.

In cinemas on February 10 and 11, 2024 in limited release, then everywhere in France on July 10, Creation of the Gods: Realm of Storms is a Chinese blockbuster aimed at The Lord of the Rings. Generous with a grand spectacle, Uerschan’s work was performed in France to the delight of fantasy fans.

If you missed this first episode, know that it will be available on VOD from December 31st.

The film is an adaptation of the novel Investiture of the GodsBattle of the Dynasties published in the 17th century. This is one of the greatest legends of the Middle Kingdom. A sort of Chinese Lord of the Rings, Creation of the Gods is the first episode of a trilogy. It is subtitled Kingdom of Storms.

The story introduces us to Prince Yin Shu. The latter ascends the throne of the Shang kingdom in blood with the help of his demonic mistress Daji. Taoist sage Jiang Zia has arrived from the sacred Kunlun Mountain, and Ji Fa, a diplomatic hostage raised by Ying Shu, joins forces to fight the tyrant.

A trilogy, the episodes of which were filmed in a row

Making Gods is a trilogy. Just like Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings, 3 episodes were filmed in 18 consecutive months!

At the end of the film, the evil ruler Yin Shu is finally defeated after an epic battle. However, in the post-credits scene, the antagonist is revived by the Demon-Fox King’s demonic mistress Daji. So he’ll be back in the next episode to get his revenge.

The official synopsis for the sequel is as follows: While King Shang’s troops prepare to invade the western lands where he is now master, Ji Fa mounts a resistance with the help of the Taoist Jiang Zia.

Faced with fearsome Tyrant warriors and their black magic, Ji Fa can count on the support of new allies who are also gifted with supernatural powers. The deadly battle for the investment of the gods has just begun…

At the moment, the release date of the second part is unknown. But a teaser posted online for France confirms that the Demon Force sequel will hit theaters.

Creation of the Gods attracted more than 60 million viewers in China and earned $372 million worldwide for a budget of around €100 million.
