The LGBT+ community asks Globo to veto the tribute to Carlinhos Maia after an episode of transphobia

Carlinhos Maia’s transphobic statements against Liniker could even have an impact on his tribute to Globo. LGBTs appeal and try to veto the program

The transphobic comments of Carlinhos Maia against Liniker they have moved beyond social media and legal proceedings and could further complicate their situation in other areas, such as their stake in Globo. The LGBTIAPN+ community is organizing to prevent a tribute to the digital influencer from being shown on Domingão do Huck in January.

According to the POPline portal, the groups targeted on WhatsApp and Telegram would take a big step with a “phishing” action on social media. The objective of the LGBTIAPN+ community would be to appropriate the publications of Domingão com Huck and the brands that sponsor the program with comments.

The idea, according to the organisers, is to prevent the airing of the tribute to Carlinhos Maia, scheduled for January next year, as a sanction for problematic speeches. The groups are still devising a way to demand greater responsibility from the entrepreneur regarding controversies, mainly linked to the LGBTIAPN+ community.

The posts on the Instagram profiles of host Luciano Huck and Globo are already full of comments from people who felt offended by the recent comments of Carlinhos Maia, who asked that the recording not be broadcast on TV.

On social media, Internet users commented on the mobilization. “First: honor why?“, asked one of the Threads users. “He does not represent the community and has never represented it again. It wasn’t obvious before. So far, so good! He went out and the conversation was always ‘My husband is my brother’ I don’t kiss in front of anyone, you have to respect this and that and that… Respect who? If straight people kiss in front of whoever they want. Anyway, countless things he does only give ammunition to homophobes rather than wearing the shirt“said another.”I believe this guy represents no one but himself.” another pointed out.

But who in their right mind will honor someone whose career is based on nothing?” asked another.”He doesn’t represent the community. He always rode the wave that was convenient for him, but he never wore the shirt to really defend“said another.”What did Carlinhos Maia do to be honored? These sub-celebrities get lots of free confetti, while there are wonderful artists who go through life without their worth being recognized. I’m not LGBTQIAPN+, but I’m happy it doesn’t represent them“, concluded another.

The column approached Carlinhos Maia’s press office for comment on the case, but so far we have had no response. If they take a position we will update the text.
