Fluminense officially bid farewell to midfielder Felipe Melo. The contract expired on Tuesday (31st), and therefore he will no longer wear the Italian colors on the pitch. The athlete has received an offer to take on another role within the club, but he still doesn’t know what his future will be.
In a statement released, Fluminense spoke of the player’s passing and declared that his name will be remembered forever.
“Felipe Melo’s season as a Fluminense player ended on Tuesday (31/12). The captain, however, closes this cycle by leaving a legacy, with his name immortalized in history, important titles, idolatry and a significant contribution to the redemption of a winning culture within the club.”
Furthermore, the press release recalls the titles won with the tricolor jersey, such as the Libertadores in 2023, the Recopa Sul-Americana in 2024, as well as the Carioca championships in 2022 and 2023.
In total, the midfielder played 108 games for Fluminense and scored three goals.
