The deadline for requesting ICMS reimbursement on the purchase of household appliances expires in April in RS


The benefit is aimed at people affected by floods and includes household appliances.

The deadline for requesting the return of the ICMS in the purchase of household appliances for the victims of the Rio Grande do Sul floods April 30th. The state government’s “Return ICMS White Line” program was launched in June 2024 by the governor Eduardo Leite and aims to refund all or part of the tax paid on the purchase of essential household appliances.

Items covered include stoves, refrigerators, washing machines up to 18 kg, dryers up to 10 kg, spinning machines up to 23 kg and microwave ovens. To secure the benefit, buyers had to log in CPF on the invoice and request the inclusion of NCM (Mercosur common nomenclature)which identifies eligible products.

How returns work:

  1. Citizen’s card:

    Reimbursement is automatic for beneficiaries of programs such as Return the ICMS, Back to the top, Every young person at school OR Tomorrow’s teacher. In this case the amount is credited directly, without the need for further action.

  2. Tax Invoice Gaucho (NFG):

    Anyone who is not a Citizen Card beneficiary must be registered with the program NFG. Through the website or application, the participant must:

    • Click on the “Return ICMS White Line” option.
    • He claims to have been affected by the floods.
    • Confirm your bank details.
    • Request tax redemption.

This initiative offers significant financial support to flood-affected families by helping to replace lost household appliances.
