In the early 2000s, the series Friday Night Lights was a huge success with American audiences. The five seasons of the show follow the adventures of this university football team, but also the life of the small town of Dillon, Texas (invented from scratch for the needs of the series).
The success of Friday Night Lights introduced the public to great talent such as Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, as well as Michael B. Jordan (from Season 4) and Jesse Plemons.
But the highlight of the program was Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins, a talented young player but haunted by many demons.
After the series ended, Taylor Kitsch’s career was affected by a series of film failures, most notably the failure of John Carter, who was supposed to make her a big screen star.
Since then, the Canadian actor has regained his health thanks to many successful series on television: Waco, The Terminal List, not forgetting the TV movie The Normal Heart.
Taylor Kitsch was contacted but…
Taylor Kitsch will appear this Thursday, January 9th in the miniseries American Dawn (directed by Peter Berg, creator of Friday Night Lights). And it was while promoting the show that the 43-year-old actor was asked about a possible role in the Friday Night Lights reboot project.
A new version of the series is actually under study. It would be H.G. The third adaptation of Bissinger’s book, which already inspired the original series, but also the previous film (also directed by Peter Berg).
Speaking to American podcast Stars SiriusXM 109, Taylor Kitsch revealed that he had been approached about the reboot process: “It’s very flattering and you should never say never” He commented. “I could do an episode, but I don’t see myself starring in an entire series. I want to have fun with it without being the main character in a series.”
Relaunched by a journalist, he also said that he is ready to reprise his role as Tim Riggins, but also in a completely new role. However, he admitted that it would be difficult for him to play a different character and that fans would not be able to tell him apart from Riggins. “I was the coach of the opposing team for eight seconds, I could do that” he concluded.
All five seasons of Friday Night Lights are currently available to rent and purchase on legal download platforms.
