CinemaCom I’m Still Here in the running, Oscar postpones announcement of nominees for the next edition

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced, on Wednesday night (8), the postponement of the announcement of the nominees for the 97th edition of the biggest cinema award, which is scheduled to take place on March 2nd.

The decision was taken due to the large fires that are ravaging the city of Los Angeles, California (USA), and were recently responsible for canceling a special session of I’m Still Herelong Walter Salles(Central Brazil) starring Fernanda Torres(Slaps & Kisses), which would be attended by Oscar voters.

According to information from the Deadlinedue to unforeseen circumstances, the Academy decided to extend the voting period, which would have ended on January 12th and now runs until the 14th, and change the announcement of the nominees for January 19th.

What is the story of I’m Still Here?

Based on the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, I’m Still Hereis set in Rio de Janeiro, in the early 1970s, amid the military dictatorship, and tells the story of Eunicemother of five children, who becomes involved in an endless search for the truth after her husband, Rubensbe taken away by undercover police officers and disappear.
