Lula announces a donation to crowdfunding the Corinthians stadium; see the value

The president took the opportunity to deny that there will be taxes on transfers via PIX

The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) he joined the group of fans, former players, politicians and artists who donated to the debt relief campaign for the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians’ stadium.

Through a video published on social media, Lula showed the donation of R$ 1,013.00 via PIX. With the donation from the President of Brazil, the independent fundraising campaign to repay Timão’s debt to the Caixa Econômica Federal has already raised approximately R$34.9 million of its goal of R$700 million.

The gesture was also used by Lula to deny that there will be taxes on the federal government’s use of the banking transaction facility.

“Today I wore the Corinthians shirt because I will make a donation via pix. And why did I make this decision? It’s because since yesterday there has been a huge amount of lies spread across all social networks that the government will tax PIX. I want to prove that this is a lie. The government will not tax PIX, what we can do is monitor it to prevent money laundering. We will not tax you in any way. Anyone who says the government will tax is lying,” said the chief executive.

In recent days, fake news has emerged on social media according to which there is now a tax on transfers made via PIX. The Federal Revenue Agency, however, stressed that the Constitution does not allow taxes on financial transactions and that there will be “only an update of the financial monitoring system to include new means of payment in the declaration provided by financial and payment institutions”.
