A renowned name on Brazilian TV, the actor and presenter Marcos Mion (Love.com) debuts as a protagonist in the cinema in MMA – My Best Friendwhich hits Brazilian cinemas starting this Thursday (16) and promises to leave a significant mark on its legacy with a story about atypical fatherhood.

Directed by José Alvarenga Junior (The Normals – The Movie), the film portrays the story of love, resignification and overcoming Max Machadadaan MMA fighter, who is recovering from a serious shoulder injury, responsible for keeping him out of the ring.

During this period, he discovers that he is the father of Bruno (Guilherme Tavares, Chico Bento and the Wonderful Goiabeira), an eight-year-old autistic boy, and begins to face four challenges: understanding his son, winning his affection, redefining his values and preparing for the biggest fight of his career, his last chance to make a triumphant return to the sport.

The story is inspired by the actor’s experience as a father of Romeo19 years old, who is autistic, which led Mion to lend many of his experiences to the script. “I really wanted to tell the story, very similar to mine, of a man whose life changes when he receives the news that he is a father and when he discovers that his son is on the autistic spectrum. I lived it, I I know the potency and power of this, and I wanted to turn it into a film”said in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazilin partnership with CinemaBuzz and With you!.

Mion is known for using his visibility to inform, raise awareness and be a spokesperson for the more than two million autistic people in the country. And the film is an extension of that purpose. “I receive compliments about my posture, about my parenting, about my career, the things I have already achieved and these compliments are not for me. I really wouldn’t have gotten to where I am, I wouldn’t have done half the things I did , if I hadn’t had the Romeo. He is totally responsible for my evolution as a human being.”he stated.

I was the king of jokes, the most inconsequential guy on Brazilian television and, suddenly, I became the biggest daddy on Saturday afternoons, valuing family. This arc interests a lot of people and the script for this film is a way of telling it.”

No traces of ‘Mionzeira’ on screen

To Mionit was essential that the public watching the MMA – My Best Friend in cinemas there was no sign of the charismatic presenter on the big screen. And for that, he and Alvarenga They were willing to re-record scenes as many times as necessary.

“If someone looked at the cinema screen and saw ‘Mionzeira’, it wouldn’t work, everything was wrong”he stated.

Despite the fun moments and the artist’s humorous side, anyone expecting to see a comedy is wrong. “Obviously he has humorous moments, there are good laughs in the cinema, but they are comic relief laughs. The film itself is a drama and that takes people by surprise”he explained.

The ‘shape’ was approved by Stallone

When Mion published the first photo of his physique to bring to life Max Machadadathe presenter impressed fans on social media. The actor’s physical preparation began 120 days before filming began and, despite being challenging, the path was already familiar to the presenter, who has already been bodybuilder.

And the result impressed the North American star. “I met him filming a campaign, but we still keep in touch to this day, and I sent him photos of my physique and he went crazy. He said the physique looked wonderful and, when I told him the story of the film, he said : ‘that’s the kind of film I like to watch’. It’s completely inspired by Rocky Balboano wonder he really liked it. Having his approval, it was more than half the battle.”
