Augusto Melo, from Corinthians, on impeachment: ‘Only God will get me out’

The future of Timão’s president will be defined next Monday (20th) in an election at Parque São Jorge

Corinthians beat Bragantino on their debut in the Campeonato Paulista, also playing in the Bragança Paulista. Off the field, however, the political scenes remain agitated, and the current president, Augusto Melo, has said he is confident of victory in the vote on the impeachment request.

In fact, the president commented on the delicate moment and, despite the situation considered complicated, he remains confident. The vote is scheduled for next Monday, the 20th, at Parque São Jorge, and will be conducted by the Deliberative Council.

“Our consultants today are qualified people, who know things and understand Corinthians. They will not fall for this scam. I am convinced that I will be here on Tuesday. God put me here and only God will get me out. If He put me that’s why He a purpose,” said Augusto Melo.

“The Corinthians are improving in everything. They will become protagonists again, but they (the opposition) don’t want us to work. I will never abandon my position. At the beginning they suffocated me financially with all that orchestrated businessman, justice and block. How do we honor our commitments by seeking revenue abroad and giving credibility to the club”, concluded the president in an interview with the “Identidade Corinthiana” channel.

Despite everything, the vote was initially scheduled for December 2 last year. However, Timão’s president obtained an injunction in the court record before the trial began, postponing the meeting.
