Tonight was the return of the Meurtres collection on France 3! This time, our new investigation took place in one of the most beautiful cities in Normandy, Honfleur. And the least we can say is that this thing has a lot of twists and turns on the channel.
Before I tell you more about the ending of the TV movie, let’s go back to the plot of this fiction. On this fair day, a lifeless body was found in the port of a city full of people. The corpse, covered with a plastic cover, was buried in coarse salt and sand.
Very soon, those who were there recognized the identity of the deceased. This is Deputy Jean-Charles Villiers (Xavier Lemaitre). A strong man! Immediately, the morbid staging recalls the legend of Harlequin, who was born in Honfleur in the 17th century.
Bernard Farsi plays the role of Paul Mesneel in the film “Honoflor Murders”.
The investigation is then assigned to police captain Justin Leroy (Helen Seuserette), as well as Vienna (Mole Turk), his deputy. But that’s not all, because the commissioner forces Justin to cooperate with a famous police officer, Paul Mesneel (Bernard Farce), now retired and the owner of a restaurant.
However, this forced alliance puts Justine in a very awkward position, and we quickly learn that they are at loggerheads. They were actually living the story while Paul was Justine’s coach. Willingly or not, the trio search for clues and naturally learn the legend of Harlequin.
When our heroes learn that the victim was involved in the trafficking of fake paintings and that he had a series of conquests, they slowly progress until Paul begins to suspect Sylvia (Christel Cholet), a childhood friend of Justin. Trapped, he confesses and reveals that he killed her with the symbolic pyramid.
It was Justine who killed Jean-Charles in the Honfleur murders
Yes, but Paul doesn’t believe it and soon discovers that he is, in fact, covering for Justine. Thus, the policeman was Jean-Charles’ mistress. When she becomes pregnant by him, she doesn’t hesitate to say it for a second, but the MP reacts badly and calls everyone names. While she was thinking about being sterile, Justin refused to have an abortion, which increased Villiers’ anger tenfold.
Enraged, he pushes her and that’s where she dies instantly, falling on the famous pyramid. Sylvia helps Justin hide the body and then agrees to stand by him as he is gravely ill. Discovering the whole truth, Paul promises to take care of Justin.
Four years later, we learned that the restaurateur was taking care of the little boy while his ex was in jail. Finally freed, the mother-daughter reunion is especially touching. Go to France TV to watch or (re)watch the murders in Honfleur.
