From 25 to 26 January (Saturday and Sunday), from 11:00 to 21:00, the San Paolo Festival – Flavors of the Neighborhoods will celebrate the anniversary of the capital of São Paulo, bringing together the best of its gastronomy and culture. With meetings of different traditions, flavors and stories, from poetry to hip hop, from samba to forró, from mortadella sandwich to pastitsio (a type of Greek lasagna), the event strengthens the inclusive spirit of the city, inviting the population to participate in this multicultural party.
The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the feeling of belonging and encourage peaceful coexistence, giving the public the opportunity to learn about and experience different cultures, traditions and origins. Promoted and organized by Cola in Sampawith the support of the Pinheiros Subprefecture, the Sao Paulo Festival pays homage to some iconic neighborhoods of the capital, with a strong history of immigration, through rhythms, flavors and free workshops.
The stands in the gastronomy area and the cultural program bring a bit of each neighborhood, such as Braswhich honors the arrival of immigrants, including Syrians, Lebanese, a Hostel for immigrantstoday the Immigration Museum. Already the Bixiga highlights his Italian soul, marked by his accent and culinary traditions. In the Bom Retiro space, the multicultural coexistence between Jews, Armenians, Arabs and Koreans will be celebrated. THE Freedom will represent Asian businesses. And other neighborhoods like it Historic Center AND Saint Cecilia, The festival will highlight its bars and its bohemianism, as well as hip hop groups, and the suburbs lulled by the rhythms of pagodas and forró.
From pub food to typical restaurants – The festival will also reflect the gastronomic plurality of São Paulo, through 45 stands, which will present the favorite delicacies of São Paulo residents, such as popular street food, classic bar snacks, cuisine from various Brazilian regions and other countries .
Among the protagonists of the capital’s festival are the sandwich stuffed with lots of mortadella (an icon of São Paulo Municipal Market), the sweets from the markets, the original bauru, the barbecues and much more.
Also noteworthy are Asian, Italian, Arabic, Greek and Latin foods: such as Arepas AND Ceviche from the South Americauntil katsu sandos (breaded pork fillet sandwich, very popular in Japan), topokkis (Korean rice flour noodles, with a spicy and sweet-sour taste), momos (dumplings filled with steamed meat from Nepal), pad thai (Thai braised rice noodles), in other words, the proposal is to translate the richness of the cultures that make up and represent São Paulo. A dessert station, craft beers, juices and drinks complete the event menu.
