The animation “Minions 2: The Origin of Gru” returned to lead the box office of Brazilian cinemas last weekend. Universal’s production raised over R $ 11 million with an audience of 561,000 between Thursday and Sunday (24/7), according to a Comscore poll.

Released 20 days ago, the sequel to “Minions” regained its top spot after two weeks in second place. But it was for a small difference. “Thor: Love and Thunder”, which had been the most watched, had a box office of R $ 10.9 million and nearly 510,000 admissions.

The musical “Elvis” came in 3rd place with a revenue of BRL 4.18 million, closely followed by the horror “The Black Telephone”, which grossed BRL 4.1 million in its first weekend of performance. .

In terms of audience, however, ghost children brought more people to the cinema than Elvis Presley’s rock: 203,000 admissions versus 164,000.

“The Black Telephone” also celebrated the biggest horror debut of the year so far. Adding to its “premiere” sessions (actually, simply a week early release), the film has already been seen by over 360,000 viewers in Brazil, reaching a revenue of R $ 6.9 million.

In all, the 10 most viewed films over the weekend sold 1.55 million tickets and earned BRL 32.92 million at the country’s box office.
