Amazon has just announced news that may not please all fans of The Boys and other movies and series offered on its streaming platform: subscription prices will increase by more than 40% in September.
After Netflix and Disney+ in recent months, it is the turn of the Prime Video platform to see its subscription price increase significantly in France. That’s what Amazon told AFP and its subscribers in an email on Tuesday, stating that “This change is related to an increase in Prime’s operating costs in France“.
Access to Amazon’s Prime service, which has more than 200 million members worldwide, will cost €6.99 a month from September 15, 2022, down from €5.99 today. The annual subscription will increase from €49 to €69.9, a significant increase of 43%.
As a reminder, the Prime service includes access to the streaming platform that offers, in particular, The Boys, whose third season, which has just ended, was a great success, and from September 2, the long-awaited series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings. Power, but also fast delivery of products, as well as Music Prime, Prime Gaming and Prime Reading platforms.
France is also not the only European country to be affected by these price hikes, as Germany, Italy, England and Spain all suffer the same fate at the start of the school year. In the United States, subscriptions increased last February.
