Crazy: The film is inspired by the family history of the Supremes director

To the point of madness, Audrey Estrogo’s drama is coming out this Wednesday in our dark rooms. This largely autobiographical film is directed by Virginia Van Robbie, Lucy Debay and Anne Cousins.

Just a few months later, Suprêmes, his NTM debut film, directed by Audrey Estrugo, returns with A la folie, a thriller starring Virgin Van Robbie, Lucy Debay, Ann Cousins, François Creton, Benjamin Sixou and Theo Christ. That’s why the filmmaker finds out after Supremes.

In the film, Emmanuel comes to spend a few days at his childhood home on his mother’s birthday. There he discovers the past and the memories that reign there, but also his older sister, whose psychological instability very often affects family relationships. No one doubts that this family celebration will quickly get into an unexpected situation …

The feature film, written and shot in a month, has an autobiographical resonance as it is inspired by the story of Audrey Estrugo’s family, even if she is a sick little brother (and not as in the film).

The director explains in the press set of the film: “I was trying to take one step, I thought that if I focused on the trajectory of the two sisters, it would be easier to talk about them – with more modesty and respect for my brother.

Then, I wanted to keep the idea of introducing a piece of storytelling and fiction: with the craft of storytelling, I wanted to move away from the autobiographical dimension stricto sensu.

Audrey Estrogo was very interested in how she spoke about this disease to an audience that knew nothing about it, without falling into a parody or pathos. He explains: “I was wondering how to make this disease compelling for a viewer who has no psychological or behavioral keys. With this data I wanted to enter into this daily life.

We are also spectators of the disease through Emmanuel’s character: Natalie is a free electron we do not know how to catch. he wanted. Even though I know my brother by heart, I never know how he will react: at some point he is fine, and in a quarter of a second, like a thunderbolt in the blue sky, he can spin and see his dark side. .

A la folie is coming out this Wednesday in our cinemas.
