Author George RR Martin commented on the possibility of making a cameo in HBO’s new series, “House of the Dragon”.
Answering questions during San Diego Comic-Con, the author of the books on which the “Game of Thrones” series, the same universe in which the future “House of the Dragon” series will be set, said that he will not make a cameo in the series, at least for now and the reason is quite simple: Martin is late in finishing the sixth book of A Song of Ice and Fire, which will be titled “The Winds of Winter”.
“You may not know this, but there is a book I’m writing that is a bit late,” the author said. “So I won’t act until I finish and deliver this book, and then if the show is still on, then maybe.”
For now, “House of the Dragon” has only the first season confirmed by HBO and all episodes are presumably finished, with the series on the way. So Martin may only appear in a cameo in Season 2, if any.
George RR Martin made a cameo appearance in the first “Game of Thrones” pilot, which never aired. He explained his role in the cameo, which was eventually cut. “I should also be a severed head. In the scene where Joffrey shows Sansa heads, one should be mine. Then they found out how expensive it was to make a severed head, so they bought a box of severed heads, ”he said. “One of them turned out to be George W. Bush and they had a lot of problems. Who knows? Maybe I can still become a severed head.
Before talking about not making a cameo for being late on “The Winds of Winter,” Martin had already admitted that he was late with the book. Also, he talked about the negativity and perversion of online fans.
It is not yet known when exactly the sixth book of A Song of Ice and Fire will be finished, but the author has already commented that he is making progress and that the books will not have the same ending as the series.
“House of the Dragon,” without a George RR Martin cameo, hits HBO and HBO Max on August 21.
