The French president Emmanuel Macron declared on Saturday that a knife attack that killed a person and wounded three in Eastern France was “Islamic terrorism”, after the country’s anti -terrorism office confirmed that it was investigating the case.
A man attacked the local police on Saturday in the city of Mulhouse shouting “Allahu Akbar” (“God is the biggest”), said the prosecutor’s office in a note.
A person was killed while trying to intervene while three police officers were injured, added the accusation.
“It is undoubtedly an act of Islamic terrorism,” Macron said to journalists during an annual French agricultural fair, adding that the interior minister was going to Mulhouse.
The suspicion was arrested, said the prosecutor’s office.
