Although the story of Pinocchio, the wooden boy who comes to life, is well known to the public, the trailer already indicates that we will have a truly unique insight into the story of the puppet who becomes the son of Geppetto and gets help from a loudspeaker cricket.
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro recreates Carlo Collodi’s classic story of the wooden puppet that magically comes to life to bring hope into the heart of a man named Geppetto. This quirky stop-motion musical, directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, follows the adventures and confusions of Pinocchio on his journey to become a real boy.
Guillermo Del Toro produces the film, is a screenwriter with Patrick McHale and the director, sharing the credits with animator Mark Gustafson, of “Fantastic Mr. Volpe.” Del Toro is best known for “The Shape of Water,” a film that won four Oscars in 2018, including Best Director and Best Picture, and for the brilliant fantasy “Pan’s Labyrinth”.
On the outside, the voice cast includes Ewan McGregor as Jiminy Cricket, plus David Bradley as Geppetto and Gregory Mann as Pinocchio. In addition to the main trio, we will also have the voices of Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, Christoph Waltz and Tilda Swinton.
“Pinocchio” arrives on Netflix in December, still without a fixed date.
