He also thanked both the interpreters of the protagonist in the film, Fernanda Torres (who was appointed as the best actress) and Fernanda Montenegro. This is the first Oscar in Brazil in the category.

In the early 1970s, Brazil faced the hardening of the military dictatorship. In Rio de Janeiro, the Paiva family – Rubens, Eunice and her five children – live on the beach in a house with open doors for friends.
