Thousands of lost animal species. Some of these species are given extinct, while others remain in a sort of evolutionary limb, a “I don’t know/does not respond”. From time to time, one of these species rises, being rediscovered by the explorers. This is the case of one of the strangest mammals known.
60 years in Limbo
A group of explorers rediscovered the species known as Zaglos de Sir David (Zaglossus attentive), also called Museum long actoboroughe OR Montagne cyclops. This animal, with so many names (two of them in honor of the naturalist David Attenborough), was recorded by the cameras of the shipment in the woods of the province of Papuain Indonesia.
Previous signs
The experts already had evidence that the species, although threatened, had not been completely extinct. In particular, they found holes dug by the animal’s muzzle. These mammals have elongated muzzles like nozzles and are covered with thorns, similar to those of curls and sounds.
Now, biologists have concrete evidence of the survival of this species for the first time 62 years. The last known copy is kept in a museum in NetherlandsAnd it was thanks to this specimen that the Zaglos de Sir David It has been classified as its own species.
