The Israeli army said he was performing “large attacks” in the Gaza strip.
A spokesman from the Gaza Civil Defense Agency, managed by Hamas, told the BBC that at least 34 Palestinians were killed and 70 others were injured in the attacks.

Citing doctors and witnesses, Reuters reported that three houses were affected by Deir Al-Balah in the center of Gaza, as well as a building in the city of Gaza and targets to Khan Youus and Rafah.
This is the largest wave of air attacks in Gaza since the ceasefire in the war in Gaza began on January 19th.
There is still an impasse in negotiations to extend the ceasefire.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the attacks Tuesday morning (18/03, local time; Monday 17/03 in Brazil), according to a note from the Prime Minister’s Office.
“This comes after the repeated refusal of Hamas to release our hostages, as well as his refusal of all the proposals presented by the presidential correspondent of the United States Steve Witkoff and by the mediators,” says the note.
“Israel, from now on, will act against Hamas with the increase in military force”.
The plan for attacks “was presented by the IDF during the weekend and approved by political leadership,” added the office.
Negotiators tried to find a way for peace after the end of the first phase of the fire on 1 March.
The United States proposed to extend the first phase until mid -April, including a new exchange of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
But a Palestinian officer who is familiar with the negotiations told the BBC that Israel and Hamas did not agree with the main aspects of the Witkoff agreement in indirect negotiations.
The last war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian group killed more than 1,200 people in the south of Israel, mainly civilians and captured 251 hostages.
The attack triggered an Israeli military offensive who killed more than 48,520 people, mainly civilians, according to the Ministry of Health of Hamas – the data used by the United Nations and others.
Most of the 2.1 million Gaza population had to move several times.
It is estimated that 70% of buildings in the Palestinian territory have been damaged or destroyed. Health and hygiene systems have collapsed and there is a lack of food, fuel, medicines and accommodation.
