Paris Filmes released the poster and national trailer for “Once Upon a Genius” (the simplistic “translation” of “Three Thousand Years of Nostalgia”), which marks the return to cinema of director George Miller, seven years after being released in cinemas. audiences and critics alike were impressed by “Mad Max: Fury Road”.

The preview reveals the premises of the production, which sees Idris Elba (“Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw”) in the role of an enchanted genius – indeed, a Djinn -, whose magical “lamp” ends up in the hands of a lonely widow lived by Tilda Swinton (“Doctor Strange”), after being lost for centuries. While reflecting on her three desires, the woman learns the story of the genius, which refers to the fables of “The Thousand and One Nights” and the old moral of the story: “be careful what you want”.

The appearance, especially during the recreation scenes of the exuberant Orient, is breathtaking, with many visual effects, as well as exquisite photographs, sets and costumes.

Written and directed by Miller (with the help of his daughter Augusta Gore for the script), the film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where opinions were divided: it reached 61% approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

The commercial debut is scheduled for September 1 in Brazil, one day after the US launch.
