Astro will be honored by all his work on May 13th
The Italian-American actor Robert De Niro will receive the honorary golden palm on 13 May for the entire work at the opening ceremony of the 78th Cannes Film Festival in France.
The tribute arrives 14 years after Niro chaired the jury of the event in 2011. The Festival also reports that, after hosting the prize, the star should meet on May 14 with the participants in the event for a class on the stage of the Debussy Theater.
De Niro, who plays in cinemas with “The Ato Knights: Mafia and Power”, is decades of history with the French festival. In 1976, he appeared in two films of the official national team of Cannes, “1900”, by Bernardo Bertolucci and “Taxi driver” by Martin Scorsese, beating the golden palm with the latter.
In 1983, the actor opened the event with Scorsese’s “The King of the Comedy”, which returns the following year with “Once Upon a Time in America” by Sergio Leone.
In 1993, “Bronx Challenge” showed up, returning years later with “Heat”, together with Al Pacino. In the following years, his participation in Cannes oscillated between voiceover, series and various roles.
At the age of 81, from Niro, winner of numerous prizes for his performances, he took the Oscar twice: in 1974, playing the young Italian mafia -Vito Corleone in the classic “The Mighty Boss – Part 2”, and in 1980, in the skin of the boxer Jake Lamotta, in “indomitable taurus”. .
