It was a real soap opera, which started with a dispute for the brands between Caoa and Chery, but now the new Chinese cars are on sale
The Chinese brands Omoda and Jaecoo have finally debuted on the Brazilian market. After a long soap opera – which began with a ferocious controversy for the brands between the Brazilian group Caoa and the Chinese group Chery, subjected to significant delays due to a modification of the configuration of one of the cars – Omoda 5 EV and Jaecoo 7 Shs are on sale.
There are two models and three versions. The most convenient is the Omoda 5, an electric crossover of 4.40 m, which reaches $ 209,990. Jaecoo 7 is a plug-in hybrid SUV focused on the range. It is able to run over 1,200 km by combining a petrol tank and a battery charge. The luxury version costs $ 229,990 and prestigious leaves for $ 249,990.
Omoda and Jaecco, who together form the Jaecoo, are not exactly a car manufacturer. Both brands were created by Chery to explore the international car platform of other brands in the group. And it makes a great success. Therefore, Caoa’s struggle to bring the Omoda separated by Jacoo was inglorious.
Chery won the controversy and apparently both groups can even create synergies for Omoda Jaecoo. Both brands will always have the same amount of models on the market. Omoda is looking for a younger audience with future technology. Jaecoo wants to hook elite consumers, confused by robust cars and lifestyle.
Omoda 5 EV and Jaecoo 7 Shs were released on Tuesday evening, 14, in San Paolo. The name Shs means super hybrid system. According to Omoda Jaeco, the concept of “super hybrid”, widely used in Brazil by Byd, is a creation of the Chery group.
This relationship is updated.
