Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the billionaire Elon Musk on Wednesday he compared him to Sergei Korolev, the chief engineer behind the space success of the Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s, said the Tass state press agency.
Tass mentioned Putin, who spoke of Russia’s space policy in a meeting with the students, saying: “You know, there is a person who lives in the United States, it can be said that they are absolutely crazy for Mars.”
It was mentioned by making a comparison between Musk and Sergei Korolev, a Soviet engineer who was fundamental for the success of the Soviet Union by sending Yuri Gagarin to the first spatial flight with crew in history in 1961.
“These people rarely appear in the human population, loaded with a certain idea. Although it may seem incredible for me today, after a while, these ideas often materialize,” said Putin, according to Tass.
Putin had already praised Musk, whose commercial interests include Spacex Space Technology Company as “an extraordinary person”.
One of the best councilors of the President of the United States Donald Trump, Musk has become increasingly critical of Ukraine, who has been fighting Russia since 2022, when the Kremlin ordered to send tens of thousands of troops in the nearby territory.
