At least three people died in the accident of the cable cable cable car on Thursday afternoon (17) in the Naples region, in southern Italy. A person is missing, said the local press.

The cable car connects the city of Castellammare di Stabia, in the Gulf of Naples, in Monte Faito, for a distance of almost three kilometers.

“The latest news (…) are three or four deaths and some who disappeared,” said an employee of the Municipality of Castellammare di Stabia.

The accident occurred when a cable broke while two stands were traveling. The first, with 16 passengers on board, was already very close to the end of the course, which allowed everyone to be saved quickly.

Bad weather and high altitude fog prevent the saving of the passengers of the second cabin, which was crossing the region of Monte Faito, above a cliff.

This is the second death accident from the inauguration of this cable car in the city of Castellammare di Stabia in 1952. The first took place in 1960, when a cabin fell to the ground, causing the death of four people.
