After months of lying down, Will Smith has finally broken his silence to the slap of the Oscars. The star was incredibly candid in the video she posted late last week, acknowledging her actions and apologizing to Chris Rock. However, the comedian isn’t the only one Smith is trying to make amends with. He also wants to make things right with Rock’s family members, including his brother Tony. Smith seems to believe their relationship may now be “irreparable” and while sharing those feelings, Tony is committed to supporting his older brother.
Will Smith held back nothing when it came to discussing the moment. slapped Chris Rock on stage at this year’s Oscars. In the video you fell instagram and other social media platforms, Smith apologized to Rock’s mother and other family members. At this point, the star said that when the TV incident happened, she wasn’t thinking “the number of people injured at the time”. She then turned to Tony and the friendship they had:
I want to apologize to Chris’s family, especially Tony Rock. You know, we had a great relationship. You know, Tony Rock was my man, and he’s probably irreparable.
Years ago, Tony Rock and Will Smith worked together on the UPN / CW sitcom All of us, in which Rock was a leading actor. Smith co-created the show with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and served as executive producer. At the time of writing, Rock has yet to officially respond to the actor’s claim that their relationship is “irreparable.”
Of course, some of that could be because Rock’s younger brother promoted his brother. Chris Rock has always been a fan of comedy in the months following the slap, performing in various venues across the country. Right now, Chris is in the middle of his Ego Death tour, which recently stopped in Atlanta. Unlike his brother, Tony Rock was a little more blunt about the Oscar incident. Rock admitted that the moment is “eating” him. when he sees it, because he sees “a loved one attacked and there is nothing [he] can do about it. More recently, Rock evoked Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac as he evaluates the star’s motives for the slap. She is not the only member of the family to share her thoughts, like the Rocks mom Rosalie has spoken and criticized the Oscar-winning actress for slapping her son.
It doesn’t seem like anyone in the Rock family is ready to talk to Will Smith right now. So Smith, and the general public, can only wait and see if the damage done to his relationship with Tony and Chris is truly “irreparable”.
