In a publication on the social platform of truth, Donald Trump wrote: “We can’t wait to be there”, expressing his intention to pay homage to the pontiff. Pope Francis’ funeral could become the scene of the negotiations.

Trump starts in Rome by bringing his luggage the frustration for stagnation in peace negotiations in Ukraine. The President of the United States expressed indignation for the recent Russian attack in Kiev. However, in a turning point, Ukraine blamed for paralysis in the negotiation process.

After a small productive meeting between the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Ukrainian representatives in London, a new tour of conversations is scheduled for Friday (25), this time in Moscow.

Agenda in Moscow

All attention is paid to the meeting scheduled between the United States special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday in the Russian capital. The meeting can represent a turning point in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, although there are still many uncertainties on the horizon. The initiative occurs in the midst of the growing frustration of the President of the United States with the lack of concrete progress and the desire of the White House to present its peace plan as a definitive solution to the conflict.

Behind the scenes, however, the diplomatic environment remains tense. The Ukrainian summit that was held this week in London was shaken by the departure of the representatives of the United States of the last minute and by the impasse around the American proposal, which includes the informal recognition of the annexation of Russia by Russia – something that Kiev refuses vehemently. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had not yet received a formal American plan and reiterated that any agreement involving the assignment of the territory would be unconstitutional and unacceptable for the country.

Russia says it is ready to negotiate

On the eve of the meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the American station News of the CBS That Moscow is ready to sign a peace agreement regarding the war in Ukraine. According to him, conversations with the United States are “going in the right direction”.

In the interview extracts with the program Face the nationThat on Sunday will air, Lavrov said: “The declaration of President Trump mentions an agreement and we are ready to reach it. There are still some specific points of this agreement, which must be adequate”.

Trump demonstrates the discontent with the failure of negotiations

The frustration of the President of the United States in the face of the failure of peace negotiations is growing. After the Russian attack on Kiev Thursday, who killed at least 12 people, the President of the United States publicly showed irritation with Russia, something rare in his speech. “I didn’t like it last night. I wasn’t happy, we are in the middle of peace conversations and missiles were fired,” he said alongside the Prime Minister of Norway during a meeting in the White House.

Trump has blamed Russia for bankruptcy in negotiations, but moderately. Despite the critical tone, Trump says again that he believes that Moscow has made a “significant concession” not trying to occupy the entire Ukrainian territory. For him, the simple fact that Russia “stops war” already represents a turning point.

The American agent was harder with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. He accused Zelensky of prolonging the conflict by not accepting the peace plan proposed by the United States – a plan that, according to diplomatic sources heard by Cnnprovides for the assignment of most of the territories taken from Russia.

At the White House, Trump said he was pressing Russia, but he avoided responding if new penalties will be held, saying only: “Ask again next week”.

Trump wants a peace agreement in the symbolic structure of his first 100 days of government, which will be completed next week. He said that both sides – Russia and Ukraine – need to feel the pressure and know that “must provide results”.

The position of NATO

After meeting Trump at the White House, the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (born), Mark Rutte, said that European allies continue to see Russia as a long -term threat.

Rutte positively evaluated the role of the United States in peace negotiations under the guidance of President Donald Trump. According to the NATO Secretary General, the meeting held in London last Tuesday showed concrete progress and indicated that the impasse was overcome.

He underlined that, in his opinion, US performances do not represent a diplomatic failure, but a real opportunity to obtain a positive result for the conflict, thanks to the conduct of the Trump administration.
