The town hall closes the old floods and prepares new pumping stations
The Town Hall of Porto Alegre confirmed the application of R $ 11 million in improvements in the complete protection system, almost twelve months after the flood that reached half of the neighborhoods. In 2024, Guaíba exceeded the sign of 5 meters, leaving several immersed areas. The works are conducted by the Municipal Department of water and waste water (DMAE), which completed two offers for immediate execution.
Among the shares, we highlight the closure of four floods (8, 9, 10 and 13) with reinforced concrete, at a cost of 3.1 million dollars. In addition, new structures will be installed in Concerts 11, 12 and 14, located on Avenida Castelo Branco, specially adapted to contain the strength of the Jacuí river, an investment that will add $ 8.2 million.
The project also includes reforms in 1, 2, 4 and 6 representts, which, although not compromised in the last flood, will undergo sealing and mobility adjustments. To strengthen the system, Dmae will also launch works of works in the pumping stations of rainwater (eBaps), covering the units that have faced problems in the last flood.
The initiative includes the reduction of the openings of the containment walls from 150 to only 45 meters, increasing the resistance against infiltration. DMAE also prepares new engineering projects to renovate all the units interested in the climatic event of 2024.
