The bill requires civil construction to plant trees in Porto Alegre

It was discussed in the project of the Municipality of Porto Alegre which establishes the obligation of the plant plan as a requirement of construction or expansion of buildings with an area of ​​over 500 m². The text is by the councilor Roberto Robaina (PSOL).

According to the proposal, the entrepreneur must present and perform the plan with the following specifications: minimum number of trees to be planted, corresponding to one tree for every 10 m² of built area; Native species of local flora, giving priority to those that contribute to biodiversity and environmental balance; and plant in the company itself, or, in the absence of an adequate physical space, in a place to be defined by the government.

For the implementation of the plant plan, a term of compensation of plants will be signed. The plan must be approved by the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment, Urbanism and Sustainability (SMAMUS).

The text provides for the possibility of obtaining a certificate of compensation by transferring environmental services, if the plantation of all the seedlings provided in the residence plan cannot be performed. It also defines that for the issue of the installation license for companies subject to environmental licenses, compensation will be calculated, due to the highest amount determined as a measure before the emission of the license. In case of non -compliance with the proposed rules, the fines can be applied between R $ 1,731 and R $ 28,855.
