Rule 34, Brazilian film competing at the Locarno Film Festival wins trailer; watch

Directed by Julia Murat, Rule 34 is up for Golden Leopard in Switzerland

The film rule 34, directed by carioca Julia Murat won trailer. The feature will compete at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

According to the synopsis, Rule 34tells the story of Simone, a young black law graduate who paid for college by selling sexual performances online. Approved in a competition for the Public Defender’s Office, she intends to act on behalf of women victims of domestic violence.

However, encouraged by a friend, Simone comes into contact with sadomasochistic practices and finds herself questioned about the possible contradiction between these practices and her work at the Defender’s Office.

The term Rule 34 The film’s name refers to the “34th Rule of the Internet, which states that any imaginable object, character, or media franchise has pornography associated with it.”

In the trailer we have Simone laughing and gasping as her friend strangles her with a belt, followed by scenes from her double life: with her online performance clients and attending law classes during the day. Watch below:

produced by Corner Films in Julia Murat, Bubbles Project from Rio de Janeiro and Still Moving from France, Rule 34 received support from Sweden’s Gothenburg Audiovisual Fund (via Variety). The cast is made up of Sol Miranda, Lorena Comparato and Lucas Andrade.
