USA offers incentives to expand the intake and conservation of air traffic controllers

The US transport department has announced Thursday that is taking measures to preserve and recruit more air traffic controllers to face the scarcity of significant staff.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which in March has declared its intention to take 2,000 trainees for air traffic controllers this year, said that it will offer a single payment equivalent to 20% of the annual basic salary for retirement controllers which are still under the compulsory retirement age of 56 years, for each additional year that continue to work.

The United States Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said Thursday that he intends to present his plan next week to request billions of dollars for the reform of the reform of national air traffic control infrastructures.

A commission for the Chamber of Deputies of the United States approved the 12.5 billion dollars of Wednesday 2029 as a “advance” to face the problems of the sector.

Duffy, who previously said he would ask for “dozens of billions” in Fondi, mentioned a series of recent accidents on Thursday, including serious delays in Newark due to the fault in the problems of equipment and staff.

“We are starting to see the cracks in the system and we can see them in different places,” said Duffy. “It is our duty – of all of us, to work together – do not wait until a disaster occurs.”
