Since March 19, Cinémathèque Française has devoted a new exhibition (after that James Cameron’s world) as another modern director: Vess Anderson. It has to be said that since the late 90’s, through his eleven feature films, American filmmaker Texas has established his clay in his immediate unique style, mixing careful aesthetics, strange humor and sophisticated melancholic.
A loyal film director
His first feature film Bottle Rocket was released in 1996, an adaptation of his own short film, made three years before, but especially with Rushmore (1998). He collaborates with Bill Mura for the first time (you can play with the actor’s filmography), which will become one of his flagship actors, with whom he will shoot at least eight other films.
Her new movie arrives very soon
Then the filmmaker continued his outgoing career every two or three years, continuing to impose his unique style, inviting each new production, more impressive casting of Hollywood stars (water life, Grand Budapest Hotel, Asteroid City…). Among his eleven artistic films, Ves Anderson could also try animation with hitchhiking films, fantastic Mr. Fox and island dogs.
