More than three months after President Donald Trump has entered office, the United States government has decided to send a representative of the United States Department of State to Brazil. The interim leader of the coordination of international sanctions, David Gamble, will arrive in Brazil on Monday (5/5). This is the first time that a representative of the State Department, equivalent to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrived in Brazil from the inauguration of Trump in January 2025.
His arrival in the country takes place in a moment of cooling relations between the United States and Brazil and in the midst of the expectation of meeting members of the opposition to the government of President Luiz Inacio da Silva (PT) such as the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and his son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicanans-Rj).
The arrival of Gamble and a delegation led by Brazil was released by the metroles of the portal and confirmed by the BBC News Brazil.

The note issued by the United States Embassy states that the delegation will have bilateral meetings on the fight against transnational criminal organizations and terrorism. The note does not inform how many members have the entourage, with which the organs will meet and for how long it will spend in the country.
“The United States department will send a delegation to Brasilia, led by David Gamble, interim head of the coordination of sanctions. It will participate in a series of bilateral meetings on transnational criminal organizations and will discuss US sanction programs aimed at fighting terrorism and drug trafficking”, the note.
However, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the main federal official to combat organized crime and terrorism, told BBC News Brazil through his press office that there are no planned meetings between the portfolio representatives and the Entourage of the United States.

The international consultancy of the Presidency of the Republic, led by Diplomat Celso Amorim, has no meetings scheduled with the entourage.

Penalties to Alexandre de Moraes?
Since the arrival of the American entourage was confirmed, rumors have emerged according to which one of the issues that will be discussed from Gamble and his team in Brazil would be penalties for the members of the StF such as Minister Alexandre de Moraes, a speaker of various processes developed against Bolsonaro in court and cases relating to the documents of January 8, 2023.
In the post that announced the journey of the State Department team to Brazil, Eduardo Bolsonaro made a direct mention to Alexandre de Moraes.
