Lula should soon sign a 3.0 TV decree, says the minister

The Minister of Communications, Frederico De Siqueira Filho, declared Wednesday (7) that the regulatory decree of TV 3.0 is ready and will soon be signed by President Lula, as soon as he returned from the trip to Russia and China.

“We face the implementation of TV 3.0. It is a technological transformation on TV and in the sector, a great democratic technological balance that will transform Brazilian open television, strengthening its role of free, open and quality service”, He said Siquira.

In April, Lula celebrated what he called a “final wedding of TV open with the Internet”. “The Brazilian population will have access to a state television, with images and very high definition sound. This means more information and more qualities for the Brazilians,” he said.

But what is such a TV 3.0?

The main objective of TV 3.0 is to maximize the interactivity of the TV stations open with their respective hearings. This means that they can release content through streaming from open TV, for example, in addition to games, among others.

Recently, Tv Globo has inaugurated the first 3.0 TV station of Brazil private tests, with limited access. The promise is of high quality images (4K HDR and up to 8K), sound on films and interactive features such as the vote of the polls and purchases of remote control products.

The government has even admitted that the implementation of technology requires high investments and has taken into consideration the idea of launching a credit line for the audiovisual sector. However, so far no final decision has been announced in this sense.

Changes in the Ministry of Communications

The transformation of Brazilian TV occurs in parallel to changes in the Ministry of Communications. Former minister Juscelino Filho sent the position to the new holder, Frederico De Siqueira Filho, during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Ministry in Brasilia.

Juscelino left his place after being reported by alleged deviations in parliamentary amendments when he was a federal deputy.
