After Tom Hardy’s Venom comes Jared Leto’s Morbius. The third feature film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe, Daniel Espinoza’s take on the Marvel anti-hero will be available on DVD on August 3, but most notably on Steelbook 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray editions.
Charting the origin and transformation of Dr. Michael Morbius, Spider-Man’s future nemesis, into a vampire, the film follows how the hero, suffering from a rare and serious blood disorder, tries a desperate bet…that ends in failure. . He now has to fight his new harmful impulses.
Morbius , which debuted in darkrooms on March 30th, really established itself at the American box office in its first weekend before continuing its short trip to theaters. Five months after Venom: Let There Be Carnage, though it had a less glorious fate than its counterpart and its predecessor.
Created by screenwriter Roy Thomas and cartoonist Gil Kane, Dr. Morbius first appeared in comic book #101 in October 1971. The Amazing Spider-Man. Despite having the Marvel stamp, Bloodthirster is not part of the MCU and ends up being set in his own universe, right alongside Venom.
