Jake Gyllenhaal to play Patrick Swayze in ‘Road House’ remake

The fashion for remakes in Hollywood will not subside – the Collider publication announced preparations for the filming of another legendary picture of the end of the last century. Director Doug Liman (the one who made the films “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, “The Bourne Identity”), had his eye on the picture “Road House”. Jake Gyllenhaal has already been cast in the lead role as Dalton, the powerful bouncer played in the original version by the late Patrick Swayze.

Along with him, the cast included Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lucas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominic Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery. The film was produced by JJ Hook, Joel Silver, Alison Winter and Aaron Auch.

The film will be released for the Prime Video streaming service. She, like the original, will tell about a former athlete-fighter who works as a bouncer in a bar. But the script, written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, has undergone some changes: now the main character is a former UFC fighter who gets a job as a security guard at a roadside eatery on the island, but soon discovers that not everything is as it seems at first glance. In the 1989 film, the main character, played by Swayze, had to confront a local businessman who had taken control of the entire city. Who will become the antagonist of Gyllenhaal’s hero in the new film is unknown. The location of action instead of Missouri will be the Florida Keys archipelago.

Filming will begin in the Dominican Republic at the end of August. An online release date has not yet been announced.
