Once in Hollywood: On this stage from Tarantino’s film that was never shot, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character was a real legend of the West

“The World’s Spaghetti Western Best Director”

The film, of course, is the opportunity to run Tarantino regularly (or rather) a tribute to his favorite works and filmmakers. Specifically, the director who worships him primarily: Sergio Corbuci. Great obsession too.

A delicious meeting on top

At the beginning of the documentary, QT is glad in a brilliant sequence, except for an unprecedented one, besides not in his film, and never shot: a meeting in Rome, organized by Marvin Schwartz, between Rick Dalton and Sergio Corbuch. Tarantino tells the story of a surgical explanation, the dialogues are as if he had lived on stage on stage. And, of course, always, with this logic of alternative reality, at the same time in the heart … in Hollywood.

Rick liked the script and Jimmy’s character. They talk about the role together. But Rick makes a serious mistake: he confuses Sergio Korbuch with Sergio Leone. Marvin told him to find a handful of dollars, so that he better understands what spaghetti is in the West. As he discusses “Sergio”, he believes it is Sergio Leone. He is at the table with Corbuch and Nori and says:

– Frankly, I was blown away by Clint Eastwood. He has never been so good and he will never do better. You were very well directed, it was fabulous.

This is where Sergio and Nori understand that he thinks he is talking to Leon. Sergio replied:

– I wasn’t a movie, but my friend Sergio Leone. I can’t say you liked it.

Marvin is completely humiliated. Rick said to him:

– Why did you show me this movie?

– So you got to know the genre!

Rick Rottors:

– I don’t know this word! What is a genre? The film is directed by Sergio, and I thought it was Sergio!

Nori calms them down:

– Marvin, don’t worry, he doesn’t speak Italian and there are so many Sergi … he didn’t understand.

Sergio Answers:

– I barely know him and it doesn’t matter, he doesn’t know me.

Unfortunately, Rick makes another mistake. He was asked about the Italian Westerners, saying he saw him badly on the plane. Korbucci asks:

– Ah good? Which one was it?

– A terrible movie with Burt Reynolds, where he wore a shirt that looks like Natalie Wood. It is called Navakho Joe.

He continues to speak … Sergio informs them of something and he says he is a film director. Sergio transmits him to another pole.

– Have you seen the English version?

-Eye!

– I can’t stand it!

– The English version is terrible, I agree.

At one point, Nori and Marvin are leaving the table, and Sergio said to Rick:

– Listen, you have no respect for me, nor for the Italian cinema. Do you deny my movie … but do you want a role? You are an interesting and arrogant type like Nebraska Jim, so it goes. But why do you give a role if you reduce my films?

Rick replies:

– Sergio, I don’t understand anything about the Italian Westerners, that’s right. I know the films of Hot Gibson and Lash Lari. Mario’s “bananano” is not at all. Italian culture goes to me. I get nothing in the cinema, unlike you, but it doesn’t matter. Is it very important for me to love Jimmy Jim? I know how to play cowboys. Give me a hat, a beautiful costume, a horse and you will be sure. I will be a good Nebraska Jimmy.

It will convince the Corbuch, which gives it a role. This is his first Italian film and it is not used in Italian shootings where it looks like a Babel tower. The bad sheriff is a German, the daughter of Israel, the 2nd evil Spanish, and all the rest are Italy. It has no shooting conditions, they are nowhere in the middle. And the explosions were a real dynamite. So he created some problems during the shooting and struck crises from time to time.

Later, he will shoot four more Italian films, including “Operation Dyn-O-Mite!” He works with excellent filmmakers: funny Antonio Marguerite; Calvin Jackson Padet; And the brilliant director of the western Paela, Joakin Romero. After playing in these films, he realizes that Korbucci is a wonderful film director.

While he is going to leave Italy, Korbucci is preparing to make his new movie, Specialist. Rick wants to play the role of HUD. He was dealing with the canteen of Sergio, which was touched by the new humility of Rick. He appreciates it, but Rick has caused many problems and it is very difficult to forget the director.
