Actor Keanu Reeves (“Matrix Resurrections”) will star in the series “The Devil in the White City”, an adaptation of the novel “The Devil in the White City”, written by Erik Larson. The attraction is in development for the Hulu streaming service and is produced by star Leonardo DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese (both of “The Wolf of Wall Street”).

The literary work tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were linked by the 1893 Chicago Universal Exposition.

The plot follows Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and meticulous architect trying to make his mark on the world, and Henry H. Holmes, a physician whose architectural ideal is a “Castle of Murder” – a mansion built to seduce, torture and mutilate. young women. Larson’s pages take the reader on a journey of murder, romance and mystery during the golden age of the late 19th century.

The rights to the book were acquired by Leonardo DiCaprio in 2010, with the aim of starring in a film version directed by Martin Scorsese. But the project has since been reconfigured as a series for the Hulu platform, with DiCaprio and Scorsese signed on to produce.

The adaptation was written by Sam Shaw (creator of “Castle Rock”) and the director, in turn, will be in charge of Todd Field, director nominated for an Oscar for “Between Four Walls” (2001) and “Intimate Sins” (2006).

The series will mark Reeves’ return to television. He began his career by making appearances in TV series and films. But ever since he became a movie star, he has stayed away from the small screen, except for a few cameos (like in the “Swedish Dicks” series).

“The Devil In The White City” doesn’t have a release date yet.

Keanu Reeves is looking forward to the new continuation of the “John Wick” franchise, which will debut in March 2023, as well as “BRZRKR”, an adaptation of a comic he wrote himself.
