Extermination Director: Evolution revealed that naked zombie scenes were “a nightmare” due to the presence of a child actor on the set
The director Danny Boyleresponsible for revolutionizing the zombie genre with Extermination (2002), revealed that he faced an unusual obstacle during the filming of Extermination: Evolutionthird feature of the franchise. In an interview with People magazine, the filmmaker reported that the presence of a child actor on the set made it impossible to record complete nudity scenes involving the film’s infected.
Boy He explained that, for the sake of realism, some zombies should appear without clothing, as over time the costumes would deteriorate due to the aggressive behavior of the infected. “If you were recently infected, you would still have some clothes, but if you are infected for a long time, the clothes would simply disintegrate“Said the director.
However, security standards and childhood protection laws have created a stalemate. “There was a 12 -year -old boy on the set. Because of this, no one could really be naked during filming, as this would violate the law of children’s sexual offenses“, he explained Boy. The problem was only identified during the scenes preparations, which the filmmaker classified as a “nightmare“.
As a solution, the team resorted to prostheses to simulate the nudity of the zombies. “We had to make prosthetic genitals for all“, he reported Boyhighlighting the work of the coordinators of intimacy, professionals responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules during the recording of delicate scenes.
